The purpose of the distributor is to fire the spark plugs at the optimum time for each cylinder. |

BMW Distributor Electronic Valve - Used
This sqaure block mounted on the fire wall controls the vacuum advance of the distributor. It has 2 vacuum lines coming from it and an electrical plug for the wiring harness. |

BMW Glow Plug - Used
Found on diesel motors only. The glow plug heats the combustion chamber up to allow for detonation. |

BMW Glow Plug Control Unit - Used
Controls glow plug circut. |

BMW Ground Strap - Used
Cable that grounds the engine to the chassis of the car. |

BMW Key Cylinder - Used
The key cylinder is located on the steering column. This is where the key is inserted to start the car. It does not include the ignition pigtail (also called ignition switch). |

Electronic brain that controls the starting of the engine. |

Located behind the key cylinder in the steering column. Also called the ignition switch, this is what starts the car. |
