BMW Accelerator Cable - Used This is the cable that links the gas pedal to the throttle body. Some cars use a mechanical linkage. |
|   |
BMW Alternator - Used Located on the engine, the alternator supplies electricity to the car after start up. |
|   |
BMW Alternator Bracket - Used These are all the brackets required to mount the alternator to the engine block. |
|   |
BMW Belt Tensioner - Used This can be a hydraulic piston or a spring loaded mechanical unit depending on the year, model and which belt it is on. |
|   |
BMW Belt Tensioner Bracket - Used This is the aluminum bracket the tensioner piston and the tensioner wheel mount to. |
|   |
BMW Belt Tensioner Pulley / Deflection Wheel - Used These are the wheels used inconjuction with the belt tensioner. In most cases there are two different wheels. One wheel is the tension wheel which is located on the tensioner bracket. The second wheel is a deflection wheel. This wheel can be bolted in different places depending on the year, model and application. |
|   |
BMW Bump Stop - Used The bump stop limits the travel of the engine with a rubber stopper hitting a stationary object. |
|   |
BMW Crank Hub - Used This is the part on the end of the crank that the vibe dampner and/or crank pully(s) mount to. |
|   |
BMW Crank Pulley / Vibe Dampner - Used This is the pulley on the front of the crank that turns most of the belts on the engine. On some engines this pulley is over sized (vibe dampner) to counter balance the flywheel. Some motors have more than one pulley on the crank, this will be noted in the description line. |
|   |
BMW Crank Sensor Bracket - Used This is the bracket that holds the crank sensor over the crank pulley/vibe dampner. |
|   |
BMW Dampner Shock - Used The dampner shock works with the rubber motor mount to control engine movement. |
|   |
BMW Dampner Shock Bracket - Used This is the bracket on the engine block that the dampner shock mounts to in those cases where it doesn't mount on the motor mount. |
|   |
BMW Dipstick - Used The dipstick is the metal rod that goes into the oil and has marks to indicate the oil level inside the motor. Depending on the engine it can be located either in the side of the block or in the engine oil pan. |
|   |
BMW Dipstick Tube - Used The dipstick tube is what guides the dipstick into the oil. It is located either in the side of the engine block or in the engine oil pan. |
|   |
BMW Dipstick Tube Bracket - Used This is the bracket that holds the dipstick in place. |
|   |
BMW Fuel Pump "Block Off" Plate - Used This is the brass colored plate used to block the fuel pump hole located on the cylinder head. Used only on those heads that had a mechanical fuel pump. |
|   |
BMW Heat Shield - Used The heat shield protects various parts from damage due to extreme heat. Heat shields are usually made of aluminum.
There are many engine heat shields, read each description line carefully to ensure a correct part selection. |
|   |
BMW Heat Shield Bracket - Used This is the metal bracket that the heat shield mounts to. |
|   |
BMW Motor Mount Metal Bracket - Used The motor mount metal bracket is just that, the steel or aluminm bracket that secures the engine block to the crossmember. The metal bracket usually works inconjuction with a rubber motor mount. |
|   |
BMW Motor Mount Rubber - Used The rubber motor mount is just that, a block of rubber that allows the motor to flex as needed. Some mounts are solid rubber and some are rubber with a fluid inside. |
|   |
BMW Oil Filter Cannister Assembly - Used This is the whole cannister assembly, flange and cannister. See oil filter housing/flange or oil filter cap/cannister for individual parts. |
|   |
BMW Oil Filter Flange - Used The oil filter flange is the part that bolts to the block. For the cartridege type oil filters this is the part that the cannister bolts to. For spin-on style filters this is the part the filter attaches to. |
|   |
BMW Oil Pipe On Block - Used This is the metal tube that detaches from the block. It directs oil from the cylinder head back into the engine block. |
|   |
BMW Oil Seperator - Used This is in line with the crank case ventilation hoses. It removes oil from the hoses and allows it to drain back into the oil pan. |
|   |
BMW Rotor Adapter - Used Found on the front end of the camshaft. The ignition rotor bolts onto this piece. |
|   |
BMW Starter - Used Electric motor that turns the flywheel to begin the ignition process.
|
|   |
BMW Temp Sensor Housing - Used Located next to the intake manifold. This is the aluminum housing where the coolant temp sensors are found. |
|   |
BMW Thermostat Housing - Used The thermostat housing contains the thermostat and directs the flow of water to and from it. |
|   |
BMW Thermostat Housing Bleeder Screw - Used This is the screw in the thermostat housing that allows air to be bled from the cooling system. |
|   |
